Liverpool Portland FC

Who We Are

Established in 1991, the Liverpool Portland Football Club is located in Portland, Mitchells Plain with its home grounds located on Portland Primary School.

The club caters for approximately 150 junior and 75 senior players who participate in the Local Football Association (LFA) of Mitchells Plain. The club has appointed an Executive Committee to oversee Soccer operations and provide assistance to the 16 team coaches.

The club has a management committee of eleven (11) voluntary persons, many of whom are professional managers.

The long-term vision of the club is to progress to the 3rd divisional League and build a grass soccer pitch at Portland Primary School. In pursuit of this vision, the club has developed a Youth Soccer program to develop and nurture the talent of tomorrow. At each age group, the club has dedicated coaches.

The club, located in the heart of Cape Town, is an important resource in the community. As such, it provides excellent avenues for marketing the products and services of local businesses. The club has a lease agreement with Portland Primary School for 10 years. We are a non-profit making organisation Ref: 150-726 NPO club and therefore rely on the help of others. Most of our juniors coming from disadvantage communities in Mitchell’s Plain, we as an Executive Committee assist by making life easier for those less fortunate, with Fundraisers like karaoke`s and soup kitchens but unfortunately we do come up short & hence the reason we make this appeal for assistance and we are also level 1 BEE (B-BBEE) compliant.

The organisation is playing their part by recruiting young people from the streets and gives them a chance in life to explore their skills in the sports & also teaches them discipline & life skills to develop them further in their lives. In our present-day society, we cannot afford to leave our young people un-inspired and un-guided or we put them at risk of being sucked up by the ever-present negative influences and deadly habits. We appeal to you to assist us in this regard so that we can develop & nurture the youth to become better role models within our society
